Bilateral symmetry is the symmetrical arrangement of an organism, along an axis that is in the center.

Calvin Cycle
The Calvin Cycle is the process of chemical reactions that happen without light during photosynthesis.

Phloem
Phloem is the tissue that helps carry organic nutrients to all parts of the plant.

Exoskeleton
The exoskeleton of a tortoise protects the tortoise from its surroundings.

Pollen
Pollen is powderlike material found in the center of a flower. Pollen is produced by anthers of see plants.

Gymnosperm leaf
Gymnosperm means "naked seeds" the leaves of gymnosperms are modified to form cones.

Homologous Structures
Homologous structures are body parts that are similar in different species because they shared a common ancestor. As you can see the arm shape between these species look alike.

Seed dispersal
Birds help with the process of dispersing seeds by picking up seeds in their beaks or seeds attaching to the their feathers, they distribute the seeds in different areas.
Rhizome
Rhizome is the horizontal stem of a plant underground. Many plants can grow from the rhizome.

Predation
A bear hunting fish is an example of predation. The bear is killing the fish for food to eat.

R-strategist
A dandelion is a r-strategist because it has a small body, large population size, and they produce offspring in large numbers.
Tropism
Tropism is the growth of a plant in response to an external stimulus. These roses are blooming in response to the sunlight.
Ectotherm
A fish is an example of ectotherm because its body temperature depends on its surrounding environment.
ATP
ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is a nucleotide, it transports energy in the cells of organisms. ATP is used in physical activity. ATP is used in marching band.
Enzyme
Enzymes speed up chemical reactions in the body. Enzymes are found in salivia, they are called amylase.
Dominant vs. Recessive phenotype
Phentoypes are the physical characteristics of organisms. Rachael's freckles are the dominant phenotype because she has freckles. I have the recessive phenotype because I do not have any freckles.
Long-day plant
Lettuce is an example of a long day plant because it flowers after being exposed in sunlight after a long time period.
Endotherm
A rat is an example of endotherm because it creates its own heat to keep the temperature of its body heated.

Stigma and style of carpel
The stigma and style make a carpel . The carpel also known as the pistil is the female part of the flower. The style is on tops of the ovary. The style brings materials from the root of the plant to different parts of the carpel. The stigma is at the very top of the carpel. The stigma has a top that is sticky which allows pollen to stick on and pollinate the flower.
Niche
A spider in a web is an example of a niche because a niche is a specific area where an organism dwells in.
Heterotroph
A duck is an example of a heterotroph because it is an organism that eats another organism for food A duck eats fish eggs. small fish, and snails.
Animal that has a segmented body
A butterfly has a segmented body because its body is divided into three parts: the head, the thorax, and the abdomen.
Endosperm
Pistachios are an example of endosperm because the endosperm is the seed part that acts as a food store; it surrounds and nourished the embryo.
Detritovore
An earth worm is an example of a detritovore because it is an organism that feeds on decomposing and dead organic matter. Earth worms eat animal matter and decaying plants in soil.
Autotroph
A Venus fly trap is an example of an autotroph because it is an organism that can make organic molecules from inorganic sources using photosynthesis. A venus fly trap carries out through photosynthesis and creates its own carbohydrates.
Vestigal structures
Wisdom teeth are an example of vestigal structures because because they have lost most of their ancestral function but have retained through the process of evolution. Wisdom teeth aren't useful to humans because our diet has evolved over many years.
